The love of aesthetics is part of my inherent nature. My mother was an artist, my father and both my grandfathers were metal-smiths, my uncle was an inventor and I made my living as a music engraver. I worked alongside many amazing composers from classical to film, which furthered heightened my imagination and increased my artistic sense. These influences paved the path for my creativity today.
My designs can be inspired by the way two rose branches are intertwined, the way unrelated mediums rest precariously on one another or just the feel of a piece of unfinished wood. Asian and African motifs often inspire me to experiment with subtle shapes, patterns and intricate designs.
Even though my main medium is exotic wood, I also use several species that I find in my surrounding environment. Through balance and contrast, my goal is to create pieces that are not only functional, but intriguing. I encourage the viewer to contemplate and find his or her own personal interpretation of my work.
